Dude! Give people some time to think
I think I'm leading a round suit. Small heart.
BTW where the heck are you finding all these BAMs?

If double of 3♦ was something else (takeout for round suits, general values) maybe I should have competed to 4♣ here.

Woah I didn't even notice p's double. Yeah why am I not just leading a diamond here?

(i did consider a diamond lead on this hand)

I couldn't think of anything to add to what Codo said. Still can't, in fact.

I have a general agreement in every partnership that after we make a takeout double, a subsequent double of any suit implied by the first double is for penalties. In this case partner said he had a hand that would have bid 3♦.

You can see that a heart lead or switch (from W) will let declarer make 4. A diamond or ♣A lead (or switch) will let declarer make 3. If West leads ♣Q or ♣J, East may not think to overtake, and declarer will also make 3. West has to find the magic low club lead, and then East has to switch to hearts.

I think I would had led a simple diamond.

My teammates (not surprisingly) got to 4♠ (heart led), so my lead was irrelevant.

I'm sure opener will just bid 4♠ over this and you have the same leading decision -- but now you're setting it if you make the normal ♦ lead.

He didn't think he was making 4♠ since he didn't actually bid it, but he will save over my 4 of a minor contract holding Qx in that suit?

let's agree that if he can open 2♠ on that hand then he's capable of any bid at that point =)
