Good question.

There wasn't actually any play as the hand came up in bidding practice at a BBO partnership bidding table.

Lets assume a normal heart lead - partner's suit.

5 to the ace

6 at trick two LHO follows with the four

From the bidding i would imagine that both opponents are (63) in the majors (its unlikely that both failed to show 4 card suppost at the first opportunity, but it would depend on methods).

With this in mind i know i can't pick up KJx onside, so im just playing small to the queen.

Diamond to the Queen.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

to the Queen. I cannot pick up KJx onside, so I'll try to pick up Kx...

Why did North bid 6? Didn't 5 already show a very distributional hand?
Trying to learn, I have many questions.

Yes is did. Although perhaps not necessarily this good.

1. It is not completely clear that south would bid on with as little as Kxxx or similar

2. Even if partner does not have this holding 6 might make

3. 5 could also be making and 6 a good sacrifice

IMO West has 2 diamond losers for his double, but the east rejected the double wich he wouldn't do with Kx.

I just don't know, go for low to Q it can't be very wrong.
