Partner will know what to do now.
He doesn't have to be a genius for that.

I'm sure the 'genius' suggestion is 3NT. It's offbeat but actually I really like it. There is just so much risk of a club ruff on the go, my values are really slow, and even if the opponents have long hearts then at least they aren't on lead. Who knows, the 3♣ bidder may even try to hit his partner's long suit and lead a spade! Ok I talked myself into it, sign me up for 3NT.

I gamble that 3 NT is a better bet then 3 Spade, because we can make 3 NT even with a good spade fit. But when partner has no fit and no club stopper, 3 Spade can be quite ugly, so I go for 3 NT too.

A genius call would be X and bid 3 Spade over 3 Heart showing a hand with spades and a club stopper, but with no heart fit.

double before bidding 3NT, partner can have 4 spades.

3NT.

I'll pay off to clubs 6322 around, RHO with AQJ and an outside entry. On other hands I expect 3NT to make much more often than 4♠ even if partner has a fit.

I agree. 4♠ could easily be off on a ruff or just plain off 4 tricks.

While I like the method, I'm not convinced this is an ad for it - does transferring then bidding 3NT promise a stop? If so, what does responder do without one?

Obviously partner can't bid 3♠ with a min since the transfer should be invitational+. So if he is max you will miss 3NT anyway in all likelihood. So I like the method but I don't think this hand is such a great ad for it.

I voted 3NT for the same reason.
