Scoring: MP

Playing 2/1 with your best partner how would you bid when East started ? If you are getting interested then let West opens, could you please also give your thoughts when opener changed ? Thanks.

Sincerely

Hamdi

edit.

2d!=3c!
3h!=4c!
4h!=5d!
5H!=6c!
7d

2d=18-19 balanced
3c=two suited slam try...d and other
3h=cue and agree d
4c=cue
4h=rkc for d
5d=2 with Q
5h=specific k ask
6c=KC..deny KH and KS

btw if west opens:

1d=1h
2c!=2s!
3d=4h(rkc for D...etc)

Note I use rkc alot more in minor suit auctions than most here.

note 2c infers something extra...not junk. Granted this is tougher auction.

1 - 3(1)
3 - 4
4 - 4(2)
4n - 5(3)
7(4)

(1) Splinter; GF with 0-1 and 5+
(2) Cuebid; must be void since opener holds the ace
(3) Two keycards plus the queen of diamonds

(4) Responder won't have four spades, so must be 3-0-6-4 or 3-0-5-5 or some such. We've had a cue of the club king, so we can count our tricks. The only concern is that partner need not have the club jack, in which case we might need to ruff a club for trick thirteen. Despite the MP scoring, getting to a grand here will be a good result (and there is no really sensible way to ask for the club jack) so I would simply bid 7.

West opener:
1 1
2 2 (4SF)
3 4 (KCD)
5 5 (2+Q, Kings?)
6 7 (just the K of clubs)

Now east knows a 3154 or 3064 shape with AKQ of D and K of clubs.
When partner has the 3064 he has 13 tricks.
When partner is 3154 and he has the queen of hearts or the jack of clubs, or the clubs are 3-3 he has 13 tricks too.

So I would go for 7 now.

East opener:

1 3
3 3 NT
4 5
5 NT 6

East knows: Heart Chicane, 5+ trumps, Club King, AKQ of D. So he can count 11 tricks in NT or 12 sure tricks in diamond. He still has a guess whether to give it one more try or just stop in 6. I think, I would not give it a try with 6 , accepting to play 6 NT with a small risk, when partner has nothing to add, I would just bid 6 .
Kind Regards

Roland

I appreciate for all inputs. I admit I have sympathy for 6 . Anyway I see 7NT :P

I think we need new ideas to catch that contract. Well in fact at least me.

Hamdi
