At the level that I play, I would also play like this. But at your level East will take ♦K and return a ♠. Not sure if it is best to duck the ♦ against experts.

I think winning the heart and playing a club is pretty clear. I would cash the ace first and if the Q/J/T dropped I would cash the king catering to HH doubleton. If it didn't I would exit the 9 and eventually bank on a black suit coming in.

HH doubleton accounts for about 10 % of the club layouts so it is not insignificant to just give up on that.

Ducking a spade at any point just seems terrible, you may be ducking your 9th trick and you have no idea what is going on in the diamond suit.

You don't get all of that 10%, because some of the time they'll drop an honour from QJ10x (or Hx, if they're on particularly good from), the hand with four clubs will have another heart, and you'll go down with spades 3-3.

I'm not disagreeing with your line, though - most of us aren't very good at playing the right card as a defender in this sort of situation.

tbh if you say something that I think is LOL I ususally think theres a reasonable chance that I'm missing something so an LOL might backfire Take it as a compliment.
