4D is showing strong slam interest. We most likely have a minimum hand, and partner is removing us from our likely best game (we are semi-balanced and he is balanced).

AKx opposite shortness are wastage? It may not be the best holding but I bet you will still be able to score two tricks with these. I think 3NT is too little.

As long as we agree, that the value of our hand
decreased, we are not too far away from each
other.
I still think 3NT is better, but in the end it may
come down to half full / half empty.

Important is only, that if you make the move,
you are aware, that you are looking at a 5431
distribution.
And I doubt that the partnership in question was
aware of this.l

Yes I agree with that Arend, partner is showing serious slam interest and as you know, I would typically cue in such a case if my honors are suitable for slam. But here both hands have shown to be balanced and I'm afraid that with my 11-count, we just don't have enough stuff to make 12 tricks. I could easily have had an extra king for my bidding to date so it seems most important to show that I am really minimal.

I don't know if that makes sense.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Quote

4D is showing strong slam interest.

This is beside the point, but I don't see this is as guaranteed strong slam interest.

The auction as shown was: 1H-1S-2D-3C-3S-?

AQxx, Qx, KQxx, xxx

What can this hand bid besides 4D when partner has denied a club stopper and shown what sounds like a 3541 pattern?

Winston, when you press "quote" and then write something referring to an auction, most readers will assume you are referring to the auction shown in the quote above your post. It would help if you would take this into account when posting on BBF, as it would make it easier for the rest of us to appreciate the wisdom in your posts.
(Yeah, I am just trying to also get called "asshole" by you some day.)

Cherdano,

If I ever discover any wisdom whatsoever in anything I write, you are on.

Edit: As for asshole, that was originally my response to this question in another thread:

Are there a single word in English explains "exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner" ?

If you can fit the description, I will gladly oblige your request. :P

I think yes :), I never pass AAK except maybe some 4333. Having a 5 card major without a sigleton honnor make sit a clear opening.
