I really dislike 4. Once partner shows Spades, slam is a very real possibility.

The right bid on this hand depends a lot on agreements. 4 is one (obvious) possibility. If you don't play splinters (or this hand is outside your range) then you need to make a forcing bid of some kind. 3 or some such...

What are my GF/ slam tries? I want one with 6 controls + void in unbid suit.
H-asking bid esp.?

You think that is right 4s? because no possible slam?

Whatever the merits of 4S, it does not necessarily end the auction.

4D, if Splinter is on the card. 4S shows a balanced 4-card raise and about 19HCP (for me). Failing to splinter denies the hand to splinter.

If we do splinter, is partner meant to cue-bid if he has a singleton there? If not (and I suspect not!) then we will miss a lot of very good slams even if we do splinter.
