♠ A5
♥ A1095
♦ 10865
♣ A62

All red at IMPs, opponents silent.

1nt - 3♦
?

1NT = 12 -14
3♦ = To play, always a six-card suit.

Motivation:

- Six diamond tricks and three aces makes nine.
- We have a reasonable run-out in 4♦.

3NT.

The run out is not relevant, if I bid 3NT
I will play 3NT.

Unfortunately I was not able to vote
foolish, next time try harder, there is
a break between II and III.

Still no, but it's tempting.
Partner could have AHxxxx or AQxxxx, but without the ace our chances are small.

This one is closer than some of the others, but I think it's still failing to trust partner.

Obviously system is part of it, did partner have a way of inviting in diamonds? Did partner have a way of signing off in 2D?

To make 3NT you need either a double stop in the suit they lead, and 5 diamond tricks, or six diamond tricks. To make six diamond tricks, you need AK opposite (or AQ and the suit coming in). That doesn't seem with the odds.

Partner didn't have the option of signing off in 2♦.

Partner could have invited with diamonds, but it would bring us in game anytime opener has a fit or a maximum.

First one without sedatives!

I wouldn't bid 3NT but I wouldn't be displeased with partner if he tried it.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

The IMP odds fall apart on these hands. Sure, AK-6th gives us 9 toppers. But, AQ-6th is barely biddable, because when 3N goes down, it's going down a lot.

And a suit anything worse makes 3N hopeless. Sure, pard could have a key side King, but you're only guessing. I also assume pard would bid 3♦ on Qxxxxx. Give me five diamonds, and this becomes much closer.

Don't play me for the perfect hand. I won't hold it.

Another issue. Since we are playing a weak NT, we might have stole this one from our opponents. Our partners very possibly are playing a spade contract, so two pluses will net us 5-7 IMPs.

Would not bid it.

May I make a suggestion? This is part of the Soloway system over 10-12 1NT openings, and it makes this type of hand much easier to deal with, even over 12-14 1NT openings:

2NT response shows many types of hands, including weak with clubs or weak with diamonds. Opener must bid 3♣.

A 3♣ or 3♦ response to 1NT is mildly invitational and natural.

So, with the AKxxxx hand that you are looking for, partner would bid 3♦ and you can bid 3NT. But with the KQTxxx of diamonds hand where partner wants to play in 3♦ and absolutely no more, he bids 2NT and corrects 3♣ to 3♦.
