Scoring: MP

Bidding goes:

1♥ 1♠ 2♠ 3♠
4♣ 4♦ 4♥ 4♠
5♥ Pass Pass ???

You're West, of course.

Partner advertised a strong two suiter with spades and diamonds (he shouldn't do it with ♦KQ9 for example). 5♠ wtp?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Partner expressed interest in competing to the 5-level, and my hand is definitely good for that. I would bid 5♠.

I think 3S was a serious error.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Why didn't I bid 4♠ at my first turn?
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Obvious 4♠ first round.
Given the auction, I try 5♠. Since 4♦ puts us on the 4-level, it should focus on the 5-level decision, and although I don't have a fitting diamond honour, this looks like a double fit and perhaps a lot of tricks.

Over 5S, won't they go 6H? Now, 6S sac? I pass.

I think it's generally a losing proposition to sell out in fear that the opponents have a making slam they've decided they don't have.

I bid 4S the first time. No decisions to make later. Now it looks like (based on bidding) that both sides have a doublefit which means more tricks in either direction than without the doublefits. Tough choice but I Pass, and regret that I didn't bid 4S the round before.
