I am often a compelling bidder with 5-5, but not here, and definitely not when vulnerable. 4♠ is no doubt weak, but opener could be pretty strong, and there is no reason to stick my neck out and go for 800-1100 when partner has a natural take-out double.
Let him come back with a double and he will get 4NT.

100% agree. Pard is entitled to play you for a LOT more with an immediate 4N.
I'd pass even if I were 6-5 here.

I was pretty surprised that my partner bid 4NT, clearly he has not seen enough of my doubles.
In this case though it worked out. I held
♠ K
♥ AKxx
♦ AQ10x
♣ AQxx
and had an easy 5NT bid to the minor suit slam. Unsurprisingly both minor kings were with the opener and we made 12 trick, but I had been expecting at least one king opposite.
