Jx Kx AT9xx T9xx.
Partner opens 4H in third seat and RHO overcalls 4S. Do you bid or pass?

"Not Namyats" is relevant information too and he didn't mention that.

Are you just trolling from thread to thread, trying not to contribute anything??
I have to admit, nothing but pass would really occur to me here.

As far as I remember I have only made two posts today - this will be the third.
This one pointed out the fallacy in the argument that certain information would be provided if it was relevant.
The other post was concerning whether a new suit should be played as non-forcing after 1NT (3x). I believe it should be.
It is hard to see how you think these posts were attempts at contributing nothing.
Maybe you are just trolling looking for someone to insult.

None of which have actually answered the question asked in the post.

This would be sad if you weren't serious. That is no less trolling than if you were going around correcting everyone's spelling mistakes! And that's ignoring that your point itself was ridiculous.

Great, maybe you should start a thread on the topic.

Not that hard...

I've posted 9 times today before this one, and managed to answer the question being asked or stay on the current topic on all 9, even including where I called you out! And that with having to follow your discussion-killers on numbers 8 and 9. I'd say I'm doing ok.

If partner was in first or second seat, I think 5♥ is pretty clear.
But in 3rd seat, perhaps partner has pushed the boat out, and nobody can make a 4 level contract. Bidding 5♥ will work if they bid 5♠, or if 4♠ is cold and 5♥ is a cheap save.
I have changed my mind between Pass and 5♥ a couple of times.
Perhaps it is wrong to give too much weight to partner's 3rd seat opening.
OK, 5♥ it is, prepared to apologize when we go for 500 against nothing.

Yeh I'd have to agree that jlall would mention any convention he was playing that might affect this.
Am pretty sure that not playing namyats is the default, no need for him to mention every obscure convention that he's not playing.
I must admit that I think I would also pass. Sure it could be a good save but it but I don't expect it to be a great save....and it could be a phantom or

IMO _P = 10, 5♥ = 9, _X = 6.

I'm generally conservative when raising partner's preempts as a passed hand, but I don't think that applies when partner opens at the 4-level.

Pard opened a green 3rd chair preempt of 4 hearts. This could be on many different hand types. 7 bagger's, 6-5's, 7 baggers with offense, etc..
500 looks like a normal result in 5♥ even when we are beating 4♠.

Playing with myself, I'd bid 5♥. Good save, and might even make on a good day. I don't tend to overbid 3rd seat preempts - more often I'm stronger than a usual preempt, might have a 6-5. With some others I'm just happy they didn't double us already.

I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
