Scoring: IMP

Bidding went:

1-p-1NT*-2
3-p-4-5
5-X-end

1NT was forcing one round. Do you agree with the bidding? Oh well, LHO leads the Ace. What do you do? Opps are BBO randoms who are above average.

edit: fixed diagram
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

1 opening is ok if not playing Namyats. Don't like 3, My rebid is 4. I think I take the diamond finesse and later a ruffing finesse.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I think opening 1 is really bad in practical bridge. Also hate 3, it's not even forcing. Sorrrry

Don't apologize, looking at the hand again I agree with both assertions:) How would you play it?

I do hate 1NT too if that helps! I guess I'll play ace and a diamond and have to know what happens from there.

Hi,

is the diagram correct?

If South faces a passed hand, a 4S opening would have
been better.
Assuming south to be dealer, I think the bidding was fine.

With kind regards
Marlowe

I will now cash 1 spade and take a ruffing hook in diamonds, planning to ruff my last diamond also. If RHO has 2 spades I am down (and his bidding is weird!).

As far as the bidding I think 1N is good, and 1S is fine (reaching slam is not an impossibility, our hand is very good). I think 3D is bad, at that point south should have just gone ahead and bid 4S and hoped to shut them out.
