NV v V, MP, you hold ♠752 ♥AK6 ♦Q97 ♣J532. LHO opens 1♥, partner overcalls 1♠, RHO passes.

The three choices seem to be 1N, 2♥ (constructive three-card raise), and 2♠ (not so constructive three-card raise). Of course, you and your partner have not quantified "constructive". Your choice?

2H seems obvious.

2H man. If our limit raise had to force us to the 3 level I would just go low with 2S but here we can still stop in 2 so I'm happy to bid 2H.

Bidding 1NT on these hands is a huge pet peeve to me, I think it works very badly and love to tell my partner I have support. I am in no position to withhold such information this early in the auction. 2♥.

I was going to post something about B/I/A should always raise and leave bidding 1N with 3-card support to the experts, but I see how JDonn would raise, too.

If we had any intermediate honors in hearts I would at least have some sympathy for 1N, but with AK??

I have support so I raise rather than 1NT which tells the opps I have stopper(s) and may prevent them from getting too high in ♥. I really dislike 1NT when I can support PD's suit which is higher than the opp's suit.

I don't really mind 1NT. 4333 and the stuff outside hearts look a bit ideal for it. But I would like to get my 3card support across in case the bidding may get competitive, and with the raise structure outlined I will bid 2H.

1NT - I have 2 heart stoppers, a sterile distribution, poor spades and slow cards in the minors. 1NT looks obvious.

2H seems obvious. I have 3-card support and sharp high cards in hearts that don't mind being led through.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.
