1NT the first time. If I open 1♣ and partner bids 1♠, a very predictable sequence, I have a rebid problem. (The 1♥ overcall was irrelevant to that problem.) I knew that. So, I open 1NT.

LOL, just open 1N I mean wtp. Is it really so unexpected that partner bids spades and you have nothing close to a reasonable bid?

I would bid 2C since 1N and 2N are both too off even though I hate to bid 2C.

I would have opened 1NT the first time to avoid this common problem. Now I am stuck, but 2NT is too much of an overbid, so I'll be cautious with 2♣ catering to the fact that PD may have nothing more more of value in his hand than Axxxx in ♠

I have on occasion bid this hand by opening 1♦ and then rebidding 2♣, planning to covert a courtesy correction (2♦) to 2♥. My heart wants to do that. As it is, I suppose 1♣...2♣.

I'll go with 2♣. An underbid, but 2NT would be an overbid by your standards and I really don't think a cue would show LESS than a game force.

I would have opened 1Nt but now i rebid 2S. I think 2S is safer then 2C. If the bidding goes on i might be able to reach 3Nt and if the bidding stop im happy to be in 2S instead of 3Nt or 2C.

Maybe a fake 2 Diamond is nice. If pd has enough diamonds to raise this, he will have even more spades, so we can play 4 Spade or still reach 3 NT.

If he does not have a diamond fit, we will reach NT Spades or clubs without too big problems.

Certainly in standard, the auction would show a 1354, 1444, or 0454.

You've just added another hand type partner has to be aware of then. Funnily enough, in precision you've got to decide how to show a 1435. For us it would be 1D then 2C over 1S showing longer clubs (1NT would show both minors), but I could be a 3-5, 4-5, or 4-6 even with bad clubs.
