tonight's hands - lots of clubs what are the chances :)

Been having a bad day, feeling tired so I took a few hours nap. Wake up late for the club's AGM and leave myself 25 mins to get to the club 3 miles away for the play session. I get there just in time completely exhausted. Sitting North, the bridge gods punish me with 3 hands with a 7 card club suit in a 21 board session (what are the chances).

Hand 1 (probably the easiest):
Scoring: MP


1S on your right, your bid? (3C would show 5-9)

Hand 2 (seems similar to my last IBH topic):
Scoring: MP


You open 1C (maybe some gamblers out there), 2S weak on your left, partner passes, 3S on the right. What now?

Hand 3 (final hand of the night):
Scoring: MP


You open 1C, partner bids 1S, you rebid 3C, partner bids 3H as a try for 3nt (showing stoppers). Now clear 3NT? (or bid 4C or something because the auction is crying out for a diamond lead and so 3N could be a long way off)

1) 3♣... or 2♣, both are reasonable. You could even bid 4♣ if you like that sort of thing.

2) 4♥. If we trust the opponents, partner might be waiting with a spade stack. Still, I make the bid that is under my nose.

3) 3NT, if partner has asked me to bid 3NT with a diamond stopper. Not sure why I would consider 4♣ instead - very often 3NT will be either cold, or on the club finesse.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

1) I could see myself bidding 2, 3, or 4 depending on the circumstances. I would probably go with 2 as my default, and if I preempt I would usually bid 4 (because w/r my 3C bids can be wayyyy worse). I hate to not preempt them but it just seems like there are too many warning signs against a big preempt (stiff Q, good suit for 3N, doubleton spade). If I played a sounder preempting style I would love to be able to bid 3C.

2) I consider this one really hard. 4H is a big gamble, you can easily be going for 200+ after this, but if you just bid 4C you can easily miss a heart game. I think I would just bid 4C though because with such weak hearts this hand won't play well in a 5-3 fit on a tap, and a 5-4 fit is unlikely with no negative X from pard (but possible of course). I can just see the hand falling apart too easily with clubs being safe, and also clubs will be tough to double if we're going down 1.

3) 3N, the only other option I would seriously consider is 3S. 3S could work well but we could just have 9 runners in 3N with pard looking for a diamond stop.

1) 2♣. I would not fault 4♣ favorable at MPs, but I think 3♣ is sort of silly. If I'm trying to keep the auction constructive, partner will never play me for a hand this good. If I'm trying to make them guess, 4♣ seems more suitable at these colors.

2) 4♥. If partner has ♥Hxx, I can absorb two taps to draw trumps if they are 3-2 and claim on the clubs.

3) 3NT.

Meanwhile, absorbing 2 taps is not enough unless partner has the A, or the K and we guess trumps.

1) Agree with Jlall.

2) I feel like 4♣ may be the correct bid in a really good field, but 4♥ may be making and even if it isn't many opponents will believe you and take the save, and partner will be in a good position to judge what to do.

Anyway.

Hand 1: I decided to bid 2C, hear 2S on my right, 3C from partner, 4S on my right, and I get the pleasure of doing an easy (or so it seemed) sac going off 1 undoubled. I say so it seemed since there is a semi DD defence to 4S, but I don't think anyone found it (partner had something like Kx xxx AJ9xxx Q9x so 4S can be beaten if I can underlead AK of clubs for a second diamond ruff)

Hand 2: I chose to try 4H and virtually hit Jackpot. I got doubled and partner manages to produce KTxxx AQx Kxxx x (and the hearts split 3-2). I missed the easy +2 after the ♠A lead (didn't bother cashing the K to discard my diamond after taking the first round of hearts with the A), but +1 was enough for a top :)
Seems a couple of pairs opened it 3NT gambling which also made +1.

Hand 3: I did decide to go for 3NT as the system bid and got fortunate to make. Partner had Axx Axxx Jx xxxx (yes, 4 clubs). Naturally got the ♦T as a lead, cover with the J, Q, A (I was very much doubting diamonds were 7-2). Cashed the Ace of clubs which turned out to be 2-0 offside, exit a club. Then luckily for me, they got the diamonds foolishly blocked (started T985 opposite KQ632 and LHO used the 5 to get to the K)
