Suggestion:
Start a separate forum category or website for BBO players who would like to play a distant real-life regional or national tourney. BBO players interested in finding partners for the regional tourney can request chat mail replies from other BBO players of similar level & system who are planning on attending the tourney. They can talk on BBO & set up practice games to see if they are compatible.
This site can also be where regional/national tourney sponsors can list the tourney schedule & phone contact numbers, and BBO could charge advertising for this part of the website, which would help pay for website running expenses.
Such a website would be useful to both BBO players and real-life tournament players, and introduce some non-BBO players to BBO in the process.

There is already a category titled "Find Partner/Teacher" that I believe can be used for this. It is in the second section of blue-boxed questions.

The teacher/partner heading is not much used it seems.
If there is a listing for tourneys that details the schedule & has the actual tourney chairman's e-mail for US regionals & nationals, as well as a partnership area similar to that for BBO partnership tourneys.....
Players who only play real-life bridge can be steered to BBO by the partnership chairmen to look for additional partners. BBO players can look for real-life tourney partners in their familiar format.
A plus for both, which is not the case now.
