Pass first. It looks like the opps may have a good sac in 5♠. If they do bid 5♠, then bid 6♥, as it is more likely partner has a singleton spade. Funnily enough, I think you should bid this way if you think 6♥ is cold (to stop them making a sac over it]. If, on the other hand, you think 6♥ may not be cold, it might be good strategy to bid a confident 6♥ hoping they sac over it

6♥ might be cold. The might dive when its wrong.

If they bid 5♠ likely then i will have to guess and i will probably bid 6♥.

If I bid 6♥ now maybe they have the last guess.

The problem here is that you have not consulted partner, everything hinges on how much wasteage he has in clubs.

A flat 10 count will give a reasonable slam if no such wasteage is present

So you need to get partner involved with a 4♣ or 4♦ bid, with the 4♥ bid as specified I think you can only pass. (and if you do bid 4♦ and partner only bids 4♥ then pass is even clearer).

Hate the 4♥ bid, prefer 4♣ or 4♦ depending on our agreements here.

Anyway, partner has shown no sign of any slam interest (true, we did not exactly help him ). If we had bid something other than 4♥, and partner still bid 5♥ and not 5♦, I would pass 5♥.

Pass. Maybe I am a fool, but I wouldn't have even considered any other action at the table if I had this hand. My trumps are terrible and partner did not suggest that I should bid on.

I would have bid 4♣ last round. Now I guess to bid slam, the bidding suggests diamond values in partner's hand. Wouldn't be surprised if either pass or slam was right or wrong here. Also not so worried about the trumps since partner bid 5♥.

I also guess to bid slam. It sounds like partner has spade shortness and a fair number of hearts so just the heart king and one of the diamond honors will give me play for slam. Partner surely has more.

I agree that we bid poorly last round but that doesn't mean that we have to pass now. It looks like slam is an odds on guess.

We really messed this up with the 4♥ rebid. I'd have bid 4♦ instead. 4♣ is OK if that's our agreement.

Now I bid 6♥. I think we're favourites to make it.

So this was in a late evening swiss. I agree the 4♥ bid was poor; I wasn't thinking all that clearly, since this was basically my 70th board of the day.

6♥ is the winner here. Dummy isn't fantastic: ♠x ♥KJxx ♦Kxxx ♣KJTx (5♥ a little weird). Anyway, 2-2 trumps sees it home.
