Even 3H after 1S-x-p has been a long-time "delicate" matter...

...seems like (depending upon pard, opps, vul, and form of scoring) it should be something like Axx AJxxx xx xxx...

...but in these days of total tricks laws, what would one do with a 4count such
as xxx QJTxxx JTx x
?

Could "only 2H" be right? 4H even NV seems way too bold. 3H seems sort of "just right".

Maybe 3x in these auctions should be "tactical" and allow for the weaker hands with longish trumps, not exactly preemptive, but then again:)

Yes 2♥ looks very normal but i wanted some opinion on 3♥.

What does 3♥ say?

3♥ says that you have pulled the wrong card from the bidding box.

Finally someone knows what he is talking about. I know 3♥ is just right ;) . I just wanted to know how many would bid it. My partner didnt like the bid (we went -1 ). Only after score from other table came up (3♣ making) did he quieten down .

I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

So you came to see what is right, or wait for 1 out of 64 people to agree with you (well "maybe" in his words) so you could finally justify what you already "know"?

Your partner displayed excellent bridge judgement in not liking the bid. 3H is a gross overbid.

Maybe you should built up a new partnership with jkdood.

With your superior bidding abilities we will soon see you winning most great tournements.

I think I will quit bridge in the meanwhile, I cannot compete with so big brains.
Kind Regards

Arrrgh.

If you only went down 1 with this crap, then your partner either had a lot of points or a lot of hearts for you. So the auction likely would have gone....

(P) -P- (2♣) X
(P) 2♥ (P) P
3♣ -P- (P) 3♥

So you would have ended up there anyways. So what did your bid solve, exactly? It kept them from bidding 4♣? But that would have been the best result you could have hoped for. Meanwhile, you risked a penalty X and down 2 for 500. And who knows, maybe they'd let you play at 2♥.

What do you think your risky bid accomplished? You could always have walked the dog later had you really felt the need to compete to 3♥.

2♥ wtp?

3♥ (even if agreed as possible on that hand type, which is non-standard to the extreme) = partner hates you with his club monster.

Hey I only said you "maybe" agree with him :(
