2NT, showing 2 places to play. I'll work out what they are following partner's bid.

2N: grope.
I expect partner to read this: this 2N will rarely be needed as natural, while the grope usage will be common: I will more often hold this hand or a 4=1=4=4 hand than 2 spade stoppers, and a desire to play 2N.
I don't pass: the auction strongly suggests that either declarer has 7 spades or that dummy has a couple, and dummy also rates to have an entry or two.... the auction doesn't suggest a broke dummy. I might risk a pass at mps at this heat, but never at imps. Declarer will be able to play almost double-dummy if I pass.
Partner will prototypically be 1=6=3=3, and should rebid 3♥ with that... with 1=5=4=3, he'll bid 3♦ and I will bid 3♥. But with 1=5=3=4, he'll bid 3♣ and I will pass with a sigh of relief.
If I thought that he might misunderstand 2N, I'd bid 3♥ as a least of evils bid.

2N sounds good to me. Pass is certainly not an option.

Yep, clear 2NT. Defending 2SX when they have about half the deck and what may very well be an 8-card fit (with the long spade behind me) is not appealing.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Seems a hand made for scrambling 2NT.

So with 1633 partner bids... 3C right? Since you would bid 2N with 3145 or w/e as well.
That being said partner could be 2524 or 1534 so I like 2N, just throwing out that it isn't perfect.
