(Pass) 1♣ (2♠) ?


1♣ shows 4+ clubs in a weak notrump system
2♠ described as 6/7 losers, which means intermediate to me

Not a good problem as there are only two possible answers, but do you have enough to double?

Yes, dbl. Pard has an easy rebid of 2NT if he's 15-17 or 3♣ if he's got a 5 card suit.

The 3 cards in spades are a minus, but playing a weak NT system I would double.

After partner opens 1m, competing always seems correct when playing weak NT, but passing always seems correct when playing a strong NT.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Have to double playing weak NTs IMO.

I'd double playing weak NT.

Playing a strong NT I'd pass opposite myself, double opposite more solid openers.

Double but i think this is close even in a weak no trump system.

Nominally we set our standard at around 10 points for a double that forces to the three-level.

I would think the double was well within the range if the major suits were swapped so we were competing with five spades over a 2♥ overcall.

Here I will double with nothing wasted in spades and a potentially useful Qx in partner's suit since she will frequently have to rebid 3♣.

My intermediate partner passed, I said I would have doubled but thought it was close and this seems the general consensus.

In reality it made little difference as I held KJx Axx x ATxxxx and they can make 2♠/3♦ or I can go down in 3♣.

I would double, but I consider the double to be marginal, even in a strong NT system.

Isn't partner supposed to reopen with a double if he has a strong NT opening?
