Note that pard probably has 3 spades, in which case his 3♣ bid should be sound (with a singleton spade, pard may have streched to bid 3♣)...

.. i.e. I'm talking myself into bidding 6, but haven't managed yet.. LOL.

Although I appreciate this could be very difficult for partner with heart shortage.

I like 5♥. This is simply invitational. I am also amused the first poster essentially said "wtp" then the first five posters gave different answers.

I also like 5♥. Partner would expect a very good suit for this bid, probably solid. He'll thus look at his own suit and side controls (aces). Pretty good chance he's able to evaluate his hand correctly.

I just bid 6♥ which wasn't a success. Partner had:

Kxx x xxx AKQxxx and RHO had Axx Txxxx Axx Jx

Maybe next time I will bid 5H, at least then I won't be doubled. :)
