Scoring: MP

p-1-p-2
?

Do you act? What would you need to modify in this hand to make you do the opposite?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

No but its probably the minimum I'd have.

In a really good field, I might not make this call, but I usually would.

Had a similar hand on Monday night at the club.

QJ9xx
Q
QTxx
xxx

or thereabouts.

Auction went:
(P) - P - (1) - P;
(P) - ?

And here, I decided to pass against what I felt were bad oppos. The reason being that good oppos are more likely to find a call if it's right. Sure enough dummy had:

xxx
xxxx
x
Axxxx

And declarer made 10 tricks easily enough.

I think that would be an automatic 2 call for most of us, but it wasn't the required 6 hcp. I grant that 1 - 2 is quite different though.

Yes, I'd also bid 2S at matchpoints, even at these colors.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

1-p-2-2
3-x

I was a little freaked out, but pd really had the nuts and we got +500 out of it. Mind you, the T of diamonds was a big card, it proved to be crucial in shortening leftie who had the red suits. the clubs were actually JTx, but i'm bad at remembering hands.

Balancing in direct seat. Though I might panic a little when pard doubles them as well! :)
