Do you play the 8 at trick one?

Or would you lead the 10?

I lead 4, not T.

Tough problem. Can't say for sure whether I'd play the 8 or the jack. Partner is marked with about 7-9 hcp, 2-3 trumps and 3-4 hearts. We beat this if we can get 3 heart and a minor suit trick or 2 heart and 2 minor suit tricks.

If partner has lead from the T, we need him to have A and A or K.
If partner has lead from the K, we need him to have one minor suit A.

I guess I'd play him for the latter, and insert the jack.
Kind regards,
Harald

How likely is it that partner leads away from a K into a 1NT opener?

That answer may differ for each partnership but provides a clue. In my current primary partnership, the 8 would be indicated for this reason.

I tend to attack from an honour. I am a little more likely to make a passive lead into a strong 1NT opening but as you see I didn't have much alternative on this hand.
