Double. Too bad they are not vulnerable :(

Partner usually has a hand just short of a strong NT overcall, but 3NT is just to insecure.

Hi,

X

I would have bid 1NT at my first turn,
but it seems that the t/o X instead of
the 1NT bid turned out better.

With kind regards

who says pd's pass is forcing? if it was, i'd bid 1s otherwise pass; double would never cross my mind with such crap hand and poor hearts

Partner converted our reopening X to a penalty double of 1D. This, in and of itself, creates a forcing auction for at least one more round, he is simply giving us the opportunity to double 1H for penalties if we can. We have 4 hearts, so we double. If he doesnt want to defend 1H doubled, he can still pull.
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

I also do not play partner's pass as forcing.

Partner expressed a few that, given the options available to him, 1Dx was our side's best contract. That isn't the same as saying he positively wanted to defend 1Dx.

I would pass out 1H. At matchpoints, I would bid 1NT.

Edit: there are indications from the auction that partner thinks pass is forcing (RHO passed the opening bid, LHO passed over our double). If I'm not confident in my partner, I would bid 1NT. Double is insane.

It is almost inconceivable to me that partner's pass is nonforcing after 1H.

Anyway, I double. Partner can pull if he likes, pretty much knowing that I cannot have five hearts.

Pard's pass seems clearly forcing to me, how else to get them when his hand is good but I have the long hearts? I consider this auction akin to when someone redoubles over a takeout double then passes the runout on his right.

But I'm still not doubling with such bad hearts. So 1NT it is. Without saying I know what the exact ranges are for an auction like that, if partner invites with 2NT I will accept since I could have doubled with less and Kx of diamonds is good offense opposite the penalty pass.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Unless some one slipped in a 25 point deck, I would think pard has more than a pile of diamonds, so his pass is forcing. Doubling 1 is not attractive so I will try 1N.
