Maybe a spade to the ten at trick 2.
This will make whenever spades are not 4-0 - spade to ten and jack, spade ruffed by West, DT&C.
If West plays a quack at trick 2, ducking should work.
If spades are 4-0 I will have another think when I learn the bad news

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

An immediate spade duck also seemed best to me.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Agree - spade to dummy's 10 at trick 2. You might even make when spades are 4-0.

I usually get these wrong, but what's the problem with cashing a couple of hearts, starting with the jack first, before leading the spade 10 out of dummy?

Start with a ♣ discard, RHO may have his Ace...

I would pull Ak of H if both follow, I am home by playing the ten of spade.
If hearts are four one, I can still get the spades right.

Ducking first trick, discarding a club seems pretty clear and mandatory to me.
You should be alerted to the fact (although remote) that both Majors won't split favorably. If you ruff in hand, you might not be able to grab your spades later.
In fact, if they continue with Diams. you should duck again discarding one more Club

It all makes perfect sense, expressed in dollars and cents.
