I too bid 1NT.

I don't have a close second choice.

My preference is for a 2 overcall.

I don't hate 1NT, but I see no need for a distorted 1NT overcall when we have a decent alternative.
2 tells partner we have a good hand with a club suit. We can still get to 3NT if it is right, and we miss out on the various unpleasantnesses that may befall us when we overcall 1NT with a singleton in the unbid major.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

The problem with 1NT is that p will take you out to 2 with a 5-card. 2 could be a silly contract as well but I think that's slightly less likely.

I would bid 1NT if p would not expect 17 HCPs for a suit overcall. Otherwise 2.

Edit: sorry, I thought East opened 1. Over a 1 opening, the choice is between 1NT and pass. I think I'll pass.

I like pass.

Apparently RHO has opened 1, so I cannot bid clubs naturally.

Opponents are unlikely to play in 1, and if they do we may do okay by defeating it.

If I pass, partner may bid, or I may get the chance to bid clubs or double hearts later in the bidding.

1NT is okay on values, but too often partner goes to on a five-card suit.

I do not like 1NT. I rather pass. When partner sees my strong second action, he should understand I have clubs.

Ah, I misread the original post - I thought East opened 1.

Well then: Over a 1 opening, Pass, 1NT and 1 all come into consideration, but my vote is for Pass.

I play 2 Club as natural here, so I am allow to bid it.

If I don´t play raptor, 1 NT is possible, yes you have a singelton in a major, but if pd transfers you into Heart, you have no less support then with xx.

So I would choose this bid.

But I play raptor, so I cannot bid 1 NT. Okay, so 2 Club is it.
Kind Regards

Roland

We can't really tell since the OP used the spade symbol twice.

I'll pass over 1. I can handle most continuations comfortably.

You can zoom in and you can tell that it's 1.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
