A view from the house

I live in the Scottish Borders and this is the view from the house at 0900 GMT this morning.

In the distance are the Lammermuir Hills, and in the centre of the picture is the Whiteadder river (pronounced 'wit-adder'). Comedy fans will be pleased to hear that the Blackadder river is about 5km south of here.

The landscape is whitened only by frost, there has been no snow yet.

I live on the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan, USA, which juts far into Lake Superior. We have lots of snow already.

Here is the view from my front deck, looking toward Portage Lake, which connects with Lake Superior on both the north and south sides of our peninsula.

No snow here (Maryland, USA) but in early January we are heading back to northern Minnesota. Winter: Cold, Wonderful. I love it!
