Can't see much wrong with 1♣. And despite your hand worse than your HCP might suggest, you still have 16 and a bit of shape. So 3♥ it is.

Sorry nope :) I don't want to make the same bid on a bad 16 with a singleton as on a random balanced 12.

Certainly this is a clear 3♥ call if LHO didn't make the call.

Since LHO overcalled, how much worse is our hand as a result? Somewhat, but I wouldn't drag it into the 2♥ realm.

I have some sympathy for 2♥. If I want partner to double 1♠ with xx Axxx Kxxx xxx, then I shouldn't hang him out to dry with doubtful values and poor intermediates. And I would expect him to bid game over 3♥ holding xx AJxx xxxx Kxx, which is maybe 20% to make on this auction.

On the other hand, partner may be reluctant to make a try for game over 2♥ with a lot of 10 HCP hands where game is a good bet. It depends on how aggressively he expects you to raise. Clearly, the majority here are in the aggressive category.

All that being said, I would (over)bid 3♥ and apologize when things fell apart.

2) yes you bid 3♥ provided you and your pd have agreed that x of 1♠ shows 4+♥ eeven if you downgrade Queen ♠ you upgrade coz u hv singleton so its the same thing.
