3♠ and 4♠ in the next round. After 3NT or 4♣ I won't cue 4♦. This way partner knows there is nice support and no controls. Any slam attemps would be base on his own keycards and voids.

4♠ denies a control, right? 3♠, then. Never splinter with a sec king (except maybe if the suit has been bid by opps).

I agree with all the 3♠ bidders. I don't see how the singleton ♦K is (effectievly) any different from Kx on this particular auction. As an aside, I also think a splinter here shows better than 2-3 HCP.

3s

but I think 4s fast arrival is ok also. I assume 2D showed something(K+) here and we do not that much more.

Off course ! 4♠ is far too pessimistic with 4 card support and some hopefully useful stuff outside.

3♠.

After 3NT, I'll cue 4♦.

After 4♥, then, from partner (Last Train), I'm bidding 5♣.

3♠ or 4♦ but its not really germane to the circumstances where this hand came up.

This is funny, I had a similar hand yesterday where I did decide to splinter with the stiff king. However, the auction was different:

2C - (Dbl) - p - (2D)
2S - (p) - 4D -(p)
4H - (Dbl) - p - (p)
Rdbl - (p) - ??

I had something like Jxxx QJ10x K Jxxx. Do you agree with the auction so far? What's your call now? (playing against jdonn and jlall on BBO, highly amusing table)

I also bid 3D on Apollo's hand, the king of diamonds is my biggest card. In the auction above my LHO had bid diamonds so the king was less likely to be useful and I thought the splinter would be most descriptive.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I have a control so I will bid 3♠ and tell partner.

Would try 4♠ if pard is an overbidder. My hand is trash for a slam anywayz.. Perhaps 3♠ if I trusted pard's scientific bidding skills.

Agree ♦K is a GOOD card, not bad.

Han - these were the circumstances where this hand came up.

One of the senior kibitzers challenged the notion that others were making that slam should be bid after the splinter. He specified the hand in this thread of an example of where slam would be poor.
