Wine: chat becomes selected and disappears

Using Wine, whenever a claim, undo request, new deal etc appears while I'm typing a chat message, the chat message becomes selected with as consequence that it disappears as soon as I type another character. This happens so frequently that it may be better not type anything in the chat box, but use a text editor window and then copy-paste into the chat box.

I suppose it would be difficult to do anything about this, but maybe there is a Wine option for disabling auto-selection of text fields, or some such?
