Situation:

A non-ACBL member plays ACBL masterpoint tourneys on BBO.

Two years later, the player joins the ACBL and enters his/her player number.

1) Can the player get the masterpoints?
2) How? What actions does the player need to do?

I'm not sure about BBO tournaments, but in regular club games, you can only get them from one year ago.

You'll get them on BBO. I don't know how long we need to keep old points lying around, so we keep them forever.

The player needs to supply his acbl number ( he is prompted for it during registration ).

The points are sent automatically ( on the 1st of each month ). The player need take no further action

To clarify: if you win ACBL points in 2006 and become a member in 2007, the 2006 points will be reported to the ACBL.

ACBL may have changed, if so I'm unaware of any change, but, I believe you have 2 years to file your MPts with them for credit. As a club manager, I have submitted MPts on a number of occassions `on behalf of members older than 1 year and the ACBL has accepted them graciously.

For up to 1 year, you should be OK.

But if you join in 2008, and you got points in 2006, you'll also have to pay for 2006 in order to get the points. The same is true if your membership lapses for a year or more.

It is my understanding that the ACBL will record any points, no matter how old. I know that a few years ago I uncovered some old slips and I mailed them in, and I was not charged. Given that all points are recorded electronically now, the recording of old paper slips is not an issue.

In any event, if BBO says that they will forward all points once a BBO member becomes a member of the ACBL, I suspect that the ACBL will record the points without any fee.

Of course, it would be nice if someone got an official statement from the ACBL on this issue.

They claim a limit of 20, but I know of at at least one person who got over 100 that way...
