Hi all!

I have arrived at Shangai for 2 days and the pressure starts to go up.

This year I decided to try to make a blog on the championships and I would try to bring up to date it as often as possible… there will be videos and many pictures because unfortunately it will be exclusively in French….

Concerning the organization of Vugraph, we move towards a formula which would be: 3 matches/rounds

the matches would be:
1) the official match on the site
2) a match which I can choose
3) a match which “would be bought” by a country which would like to broadcast his match

we does not control the 1) nor the 3) ..... and I propose a poll through this forum to decide the 2)

nevertheless the 3) will be from time to time free if no team “buys” a broadcast….

I would answer of course all your questions about Vugraph as soon as I would have a little time….

First 3 Matches are : China vs Argentina
USA1 vs USA2
Norway vs Sweden

While waiting do not hesitate to go to visit my blog… either to learn French….or try to recognize friends at the venue.

Shangai Inside

See you Folks ! :P

To avoid confusion, the list below is provisional. The matches in rounds 2 and 3 to be found when you scroll down.

Since we can't know about 1) and 3), I am going to offer three matches as "ours" (2) for each round from 2-21. Some of the official matches will likely be from the Venice Cup (women), so I have not chosen any from the VC as 2). All matches below are from the Bermuda Bowl. Please select:

Round 2:
Italy v Poland, Brazil v Indonesia, Netherlands v Australia.

Round 3:
Ireland v USA2, China v Italy, India v Egypt.

Round 4:
Netherlands v Canada, Chinese Taipei v China, Argentina v Norway.

Round 5:
Indonesia v Italy, Canada v USA1, Australia v USA2.

Round 6:
Netherlands v Poland, USA2 v Brazil, Italy v Norway.

Round 7:
Sweden v Italy, Indonesia v Egypt, Poland v USA1.

Round 8:
Australia v India, Ireland v Poland, USA1 v China.

Round 9:
Brazil v Italy, Norway v Pakistan, Canada v USA2.

Round 10:
Australia v China, Netherlands v Norway, USA1 v Indonesia.

Round 11:
Sweden v Netherlands, Norway v USA1, India v USA2.

Round 12:
USA2 v Italy (surely the official match), Netherlands v Japan, Australia v Indonesia.

Round 13:
Italy v Chinese Taipei, Poland v USA2, Sweden v Ireland.

Round 14:
Poland v China, Australia v Sweden, Egypt v Italy.

Round 15:
Italy v Pakistan, Brazil v Ireland, Japan v Australia.

Round 16:
India v Norway, USA2 v Egypt, Netherlands v Italy.

Round 17:
Italy v USA1 (official no doubt), Norway v Poland, Indonesia v China.

Round 18:
China v Norway, Poland v Sweden, Ireland v Italy.

Round 19:
Italy v Australia, Indonesia v USA2, Sweden v China.

Anna Gudge (WBF Secretariat) is also blogging from Shanghai.

This is particularly relevant for those who have studied French in the English education system for more than seven years and, therefore, would not be able to cope with zmud's blog.

Google seems to do a decent job of translating Herve's blog.

Lol, I studied it for only four years (Danish system) so I will give it a go. Some French bridge terminology is useful on BBO anyway.

Impossible according to the Conditions of Contest:

As we have been notified well in advance regarding our matches in rounds 1, 2 and 3, I have managed to schedule commentators the day before.

I think it's fair to say that we are rendering a great service first up by offering expert commentary in English, French, Chinese, mixed Scandinavian and Indonesian (for the first time).

We will likely be able to add Italian, Spanish and Polish later in the tournament.

Last minute change to our schedule in round 1. No Norway v Sweden. The match will be replaced by

New Zealand v Brazil

Sorry for the inconvenience. Beyond our control.

Hi
May we assume that live scores will be available from all the matches?

I will try (but no promises) to post the lin files at my page within the day:
It is more difficult than usual because of the time difference and also because
files tend to get corrupted with funny characters and they need an extra
vetting which is done manually and is very time-consuming.

For the moment (as round 2 is coming to close) Round 1 is up:

Live scores seem to be up at:

swan games

with all the matches updating board by board mid round, and the leaderboard updating as well board by board.

We may, but nobody dares mention the name of the provider.

The are some links to the provider in question at http://www.ecatsbrid...nghai/links.asp
