Scoring: MP

1-P-1-2
?

Let's say you bid 2 (agree)? Then:

(3)-P-P-?

Anything more to say?

There is a chance we have a big diamond fit here and passing is a big disaster but I'd pass. Partner couldn't bid 3H so is likely short there, and couldnt X or do anything interesting over 3C so we must be out gunned. There's just too much chance in my mind that we are going to go plus against 3C and minus if I bid. My heart holding is the worst opposite shortness. Not to mention the opps might saw us off.

2 first, pass later. If pard couldn't dbl 3 (for penalties - 2 shows 6 cards), we probably have nothing. Looks like pard managed to scare opps out of 3NT :)

I'm not sure I'd bid 2 hearts, 6 card suit or not. If it goes:

1-P-1-2
-P--P-

I expect partner will give me a belated raise with a doubleton, and if he has a singleton...ew.

I think it's time to let partner in on the joke. Just pass the 2 bid.

But I'm sure that's crazy talk.

Pass to me is crazy. I've already decided to open the hand so I'm going to bid like I have an opener, especially at these colors. I'm short in clubs and have 6 pretty good hearts, my spade honor has been upgraded and probably my diamond honor also. Wtp?

The problem?

The problem is you have four diamonds you just lost, which you get to talk about on the auction-

1-P-1-2
-P--P-X

or other auctions your partner will no longer consider.

The problem is that partner may take you to four hearts with a small doubleton in hearts and a 12 count.

The problem is, you have 10 hcp and a semi-crappy suit, which is getting crappier every time partner doesn't bid it.

The problem is, I can guarantee that if your partner passes 2 you'll get a excellent score.

Yeah, the auction might go...
1-P-1-2
-P--3--P--P-

Or, then again, it might not. If it does, you can always say 3. Partner won't take you for a good hand, since you passed 2.

2 on the last round is automatic. I don't expect pard to bid my hand with a doubleton heart and club length.

I don't think 3 is crazy at all. 2 limited our hand and we are NV. If they want to come a-hunting for us, let them, but this is MPs after all. I doubt pard has much club wastage anyway.

Its very likely pard has a useful 8-9 count over there. Maybe double is a better call if its 100% takeout.

My expectation is opponents are making usually ten tricks in clubs and we can easily go worse than -130. This is a clear pass for me: sure you can show me hands and contracts in any non-club suit that are winners, but it is still a clear pass.
