Hi,

3C.

3C does not show a fit, it just asks
for further description, e.g. for a
stopper, but partner will also bid a
3 card heart suit.
It also sets up a game forcing auction,
which allows you to bid 4D over 3D.

With kind regards
Marlowe

I think 3 is just a generic force here, it does not promise diamonds. In
1-(2)-?,
3 probably promises a fit since 3 would be preemptive and a dbl is available. In the situation you describe, however, a dbl is not available so the cuebid must cover a wider range of hands. With an invitational hand with diamond support, just bid 3. This situation does not call for preempting (RHO already had a chance to bid but didn't do so).

You can also bid 4.

3 is the normal bid, but if you feel uncomfortable with it try 2

I am in the camp that 3 does not show a fit, but obviously it does in their system, so I would bid 2 here too.
Kind Regards

Roland

Agree. I'd bid 2 now and change the system after the board.

I'd bid 3C and change the system after the board. Come on!
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I didn't get the problem either, Ax opposite a freely rebid suit sounds like a fit to me...

I don't understand 2, isn't that just a psych? If partner raises to 3 and I bid 3NT is he now barred?

I'll bid 3 and keep the system TY.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

You're right Josh. I must have been half asleep responding earlier.
3 it's got to be.
Kind regards,
