Seems like a minimum but perfectly normal 2♥.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Sorry, but pass for me...
You'll have more information to decide on your action the second time around, I can't see the hurry.
If opponents have the Spade suit supported, fine, as said already by others, you wouldn't be able to compete with that.
So wait for a LHO bid to enter the auction and you can judge even better on his bidding what action should be taken, (if any).
In this situation, where opps hands are not limited yet, you shouldn't give away where the HCP in your partnership are.
East might introduce a second suit and again you get a better picture of what's going on.
Btw, against a suit contract, I would rather not that partner leads a Heart, I would prefer a minor instead.
Does this answer make me an expert?

I pass. My 2 level overcalls are a little better than this. 2♥ is OK, and I don't crtiticize it, but its not me.
I would balance after 2S - p - p, however.

Btw, in probably the same juniorBBO session I learned that 1♣ (P) 1♥ (2♦) 3♥ is "not a strong bid", and 3♦ would be a good heart raise.

I don't think that was the same session, I didn't see you there nor do I remember this auction.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

If you play Montreal Relay this is probably true.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I think the point is that you should not like your hand when you have bid 2♥, not that you should hate it enough to pass.

I'd bid 2♥ in a flash with that hand. In my opinion whoever said no one would is paying just a little too much attention to the vulnerability. The only real downside to me is that you wouldn't get your diamond lead if W buys the contract in ♣... for me I wouldn't even think about passing this hand.
