I would lowball it with 3S because I have Jxx of hearts so there is a strong chance that I won't need to save over 4H, and if we do then partner will have some heart shortness and may save himself once I have bid 3S. I also have good enough D vs 3N, and if partner has short spades then I have good D vs 4H.

Yes to 3S, although the ccolors make 4S very tempting.

I don't like leaving each opponent a potentially comfortable bid at the four level, as well as the 3NT option, and as well as value doubles of whatever kind they play.

Let them guess.

I'll also go with 3♠. I'm not yet sure what I'm preempting, so there's no need to give them an easy double.

3S for me. The J-x-x of hearts is a downer. 4S maybe white on red depending on opps' quality.

Who cares what we are preempting, bid 4♠. If we only bid 3, we can be fairly certain that they likely have a club fit and can now show it (4♣) or cue it (4♠) on their way to wherever they are going. I even think it's quite likely 6♣ is making.

By bidding 4S directly, we take both of these options off the table for the opponents and may get left to play 4S doubled. If not, 5♣ now by LHO may leave RHO guessing whether to move on or not, since the 5C bid is made under extreme pressure.

I just don't see a whole lot of pressure being applied by the mundane 3S call, which does nothing but leave the opponents with a variety of options to continue describing their hands.

I was just thinking something slightly different but along the same lines.

Playing at my local club, where Acol-style light 2/1s are popular, I would bid 2S because I am too strong to make a pre-emptive bid: LHO could have an 11-count and RHO an 8-count.

If 2C was standard american style I would bid either 2S or 3S depending on my mood. I'm still a bit worried about missing a cold game by bidding 3S, and about getting too high opposite nothing by bidding 4S.

If 2C was game forcing I would bid 4S.

The opponents may rest in 3NT or 4m. In either of these cases I'm not sure I want to unilaterally bid 4♠ by myself.

I like 3, to leave room for someone with a spade stopper to bid 3NT which I seem to have a good chance of beating.

Anyway I new that the bid 4♥ is usually strong, and my Partner (I was almost sure) will pass my 5♠. We played individual-and nobody knows the level of the other 3 players. My result 6♥ -1= 77%, my frend's result 5♥ +1 -680= 0%.
Now I realize that after ♣ lead the defence can take 3 tricks on ♥ contract
