As a bit of background information, Tim Goodwin who occasional posts on these forums gave me some help on the whole submission process. Tim decided to see whether or not he would be able to get the ACBL to approve a suggested defense for a 1

As I recall, he initially received a response from Steve Beatty stating that this was simple stuff and that he saw no trouble getting a defense approved. Meckstroth then weighed and noted that if the ACBL were to approve this, they would be opening the door for similar but more "diabolical" methods. This is an obvious MOSCITO reference.
