MP's, no one vul, East opens 1♥ acol (4+♥) and bidding conitnues:
(1♥)-P-(2♥)-P
(P)-??
You didn't bid Michaels cue because you thought that partner would think you would be stronger.
Do you balance now? Pass, 2♠, 3♣, DBL...?
Thanks,
Koen
PS: See part 1 for question about wea/strong michaels. Thanks!

So this leaves 2♠ and 3♣. It seems pretty likely that whichever you pick, LHO will bid 3♥ next. So I will bid 3♣ planning to try 3♠ over 3♥. This has the advantage of bidding my suits in natural order, and giving me the chance to get out at the three-level having shown both suits.

Lead 5th best club. This is a lead problem yes?
Partner has an opening hand and did not bid yes?

Edit: Meant to say that I think balancing is clear, not that it is clear what to balance with

I'm still overcalling 2♥. After this start, I hope everyone realizes that 10 tricks in spades is possible.
There are two other possibilities. Double is strange and I cant recover from a 3♦ call. The other idea is 3♥ - which will get us to the right black suit, although we might be a level too high.
If I get x'd in 2♠, I probably should run to 3♣.
I hope sirens are going off in peoples minds that decided to pass this originally.

Having been forced to pass the first time, I'll bid 2♠ now.
It probably would have been much more enjoyable for partner had I bid 2♠ the first time.

3♣ is good if you intend to pull partner's double.

yes I reopen.
2S.
Double is out, there is one thing I know, I dont
want to defend 2H, partner will never play me
for 6-5.
Passing is ok, if it is your agreement, but than
this means you loose one suit, and we will play
spades on the two level and clubs on the 3 level,
so it is the clubs suit I will loose, if they double
I will pass, if they compete to 3H, I will pass as
well (mission accomplished).
Bidding 3H now risks playing on the 4 level.
With kind regards

Yes the idea is to bid 3 Spade afterwards if you wish to compete further
And whenever my pd will do this to me and I watch the auction from the other side of the table, I will believe that he is nuts. And maybe after a while I will start thinking that he has a two suiter which he could not bid at the first opportunity but which he can bid on his own to 3 Spade. So maybe he has something like: Qxxxx,-,xx,Qxxxxx? No, I will never find this at the table, so my pd better passes 2 Heart.

If opps are of the random kind, I would PASS.

I don't doubt that partner can deduce what your hand looks like but when hes looking at a bunch of points and a bunch of hearts and not a great fit he's not gonna be too happy lol.
