8 HCP and I want my PD's to strain to open good 11 counts (even if somewhat flattish) and I want them to open all but the raunchiest 12 counts (ie quacky and stiff K they can pass).
I doubt we have anything if our PD opens aggressively so I pass at IMPs.

IF playing with Al Roth I would consider opening 2D.

I'd probably open it 1D, really weird hand though I've never seen this.

I'm opening for sure. Why can't we just have game? Partner has spade support and two aces, bam. 1♦.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Pass, comes two points short of the rule of 15 so it's not close. If we play Muiderberg I'll think about it for a few secs but still pass.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Points schmoints. We could still have an easy game and I've got the master suit. "Obvious" 1♦ opening. Partner's got a balanced 10-count, so he'll have at least some support for me.
Kind regards,
Harald

Look at the opponents (particularly LHO) to see if either is showing signs of anxiety. If not, it's clear to open IMO, and I prefer 1♦

I am scared ...
the last time I opened a lightish distributional hand in 4th seat - similar to the example hand in this thread but 4-0-6-3 distribution with two or three more high card points - my left hand opponent who had passed as dealer jumped to 4♥.
It made

Ill open 1D too. Someone didnt open with a 12 count is 1st or 2nd. If its pard, its probably because he's 4333, so I feel confident we dont have a misfit. If pard regularly opens 11 counts with 4H and 5C I also think we have a good chance of a fit and maybe a game.
By the way one of my regular pards regularly passes 4333 13 counts, so I absolutely cant pass this.
By the way, since I think pard has a good hand I think I'll be able to bid my suits without getting passed, so theres no reason for a 1S opening.

In my jurisdiction I have a rule of 19 opening and I have spades.
Almost whenever I can, I open. Here 1D is clear for me because I don't falsify suit length unless I absolutely have to.
