1♥ pass pass dbl
2♣ dbl?

What is double, clubs (possibly hearts too) or both unbid suits? If the latter, how many spades and diamonds do you expect, and roughly how strong?

default is penalty. Responsive dbls are only when responder raises opener and advancer dbls responder.

But a responsive-like dbl showing the 2 unbid suits might be more useful here.

It's whatever you have agreed it to be with your partner...

I play it as penalties, but at least partly based on partner's trump holding, not the doubler's. Partner has implied clubs with his take-out double. We are saying that "if you have a normal protective take-out double of hearts I want to defend 2Cx".

It is likely to be fairly well stuffed in hearts, but that's a general bridge inference rather than a partnership agreement.

Penalty, shows some strenght but doesn't need to have hearts (10-11 with 4♣s rate for it)

I play it as balanced 12-15, denies 4 spades. Invites partner to leave it in for penalties, but he doesn't have to (if he had, say, a 4-2-4-3 10 count).

I don't think I'd do it without a heart stop.

I am certain that standard is penalty, suggesting you were also about to pass 1♥X for penalty. I think typical or expected would be a good hand in context, 5 decent hearts and 3 clubs to an honor.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Penalty. Let's say 3523. The opponents have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. The score will end with two zeroes.

Penalty, although I might have a heart stack and only a moderate club stack.

Penalties is standard but to my surprise, some of the juniors in IMP's (Dutch magazine for experts) play it as responsive. As Frances says, it's based on some clubs by the protective double. I think he should take it out if he has only two clubs but leave it in with three clubs.

I prefer to play it as responsive also. Must be a Dutch junior thing... Without agreement I would reluctantly use it as penalty, though. As for distribution, 4♠ and 4/5♦.

Penalties. I don't think it shows a hand that was going to pass partner's double of 1♥ though - why can't it be a hand with 4 decent hearts, 3 decent clubs and inviting pard to penalty double 2♥? Or a hand with 5 hearts that will penalty double 2♥ but wasn't prepared to go for blood at the one level?
