Is there even a realistic option besides 4? The reason this problem is here escapes me.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I imagine the problem comes when they bid 4.

No problem for now.

This is a non-problem this far. 4 - nothing else is remotely possible.
Kind regards,

(2S)-P-(3S)-??
Posting this hand came after discussion at the bar. Less experienced player did bid 4H. More experienced player said that DBL was better after which slem could be found.
I felt like 4H was just the bid and that you have to live with preempts.
Don't see how you can find slem after this start of the opps.

4 is just completely normal.
Slam is only a little over 50%, needing the hearts to come in, anyway.

Suppose you hold
xx
Kxx
x
AQ109xxx

and the auction starts 2S P 3S x P to you: you are going to bid 5C, and partner is going to feel a bit silly doubling on a 2740.

Never mind that on the actual hand you would find quite a few people passing the double on the North cards.

Double is just terrible.

Dbl is a ridiculous call imo, pure resulting! 4 is clear, the slam is quite poor...

Maybe more then 50%? If LHO has K he may very well underlead it after partner supported his
(BTW: I was sitting East on this deal. I did bid 3 with Txx-J-xxxx-KJxxx. Prefer to have 4card support for 3 but singleton was also ok. ..disadvantage of 3: partner lead small and opps made all tricks. Not a good score at MP's)

Who says you will even make the slam? You know spades are 6-2 or maybe 5-3, I would probably finesse the heart.

In fact I imagine west would lead the club ace. Then it's right to play ace and a spade to find out who has the king, and when west has that too I am sure to finesse the heart. If west has that too, as he did, he got me. Except not really since I made the only concievable bid last round and got to play in game.

At our table the bidding actually was (opps were 2 beginners):
(2S)-P-(3S)- STOP 4H - all pass.
When dummy came down declarer said to his partner that he should have bid. Certainly because he had used the "stop" card! :D
We had a hard time trying to explain the ops that this is not the proper use of the stop card. ..not sure that they unstood it. :(
(I couldn't resist telling declarer that dummy probably misnderstood the stop card).

Jeez.... beginners.. how could they missunderstend the meaning of the stop card... .it is self explanatory...

(2S)-Pass-(3S)-STOP 4H, the stop card tells partner not to bid on (ie, stop)
(2S)-Pass-(3S)-4H, with no stop card gives partner the green light to bid on.

When will these beginners every learn the proper use of the STOP card.. heck it is spelled out right there on the card and in huge red background.
