You're playing a strong system, but that's not a real issue...

You hold:
Scoring: IMP

The auction went:
1* - 1* (strong, 15+HCP any - any non gf hand)
1NT* - 2* (around 15-18HCP and (semi)balanced - transfer)
2NT* - ??? (max, 4+ support, 1-2 - ...)

What's your plan? If you're planning on bidding 3, it's considered a retransfer!

8 losers.. I would think that's too much ground for opener to cover. But then I imagined a few hands and it kinda depends on where opener has his high cards, so it boils down to tactical considerations.

Pass or 4, depending on opps and state of match.

Clearly depends on your methods (how do you bid 5-4 majors for instance?). I also play that 3 is a re-transfer but that 3 is 5-5 majors with slam interest, within the context of a negative response.

If you cannot do this, then 4. If 4 is also a re-transfer, then 3 followed by 4.

In summary, I am always bidding game and wish to show 5 hearts too. The strong club has really helped this hand as I am so limited and can still make a try. Over a strong 1NT I'd probably just end up showing a invitational 5-5 hand.

we have 24 HCPs a 5-4 fit, a singelton. I bid game.
Sure for this single hand I would like to bid 3 Heart to show 5/5 inving, but I won´t need this ever again, so I bid 4 Spade or howeever you bid game in your method.

BTW: I am no fan of retransfers. Yes the strong hand becomes declarer but it is the very well described hand in terms of HCPs and shape too.
And there is a second issue: Sometimes you can use the retransfer bid for a better purpose too.
Kind Regards

Roland

Me too.

Partner has on average a six loser hand, so game is where I wanna be even if we aren't vulnerable.

retransfer and pass, too much people agreeing must be wrong :P

I don't think partner would offer his doubleton/singleton hearts with a King in it. Therefore my heart suit is equivalent to xxxxx. (That doesn't mean we can't have game.)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
