3S.
It is not clear if they can make anything,
and it is not clear that we can make anything.
If partner raises to 4s, he should have a fair
chance to make it.
You can sell me 4S, but you are playing MP.
It would be tougher, if partner would have
opened 1H.
Partner will expect a weak hand with 4 trumps,
shape and some high cards?
I wonder how such a hand looks like.
I think 3S is normal, you have 5 trumps, and
a single.
With kind regards

However, this is not an agreement I would agree to. This is a clear 4S raise to me.

Youre at green bubba.
Frances had a poll on a very similar hand a few months ago. Do we tap dance with something or blast? MSC has a problem like too, except the hand had 6 or 7 spades; which made higher preemption more tempting, but I think 4♠ was still chosen.

P-1♠-2♣-4♠
5♣-DBL-P-???
How many tricks in this hand? How are they split? If I do pass, what do I lead?

Pass..whats the problem? Partner is not counting on me for any tricks. I have bid my hand and partner has Xed in front of me. I'm not invited to bid any more.

In fact, partner has made a very strong request that you NOT bid anymore. If this makes, it ain't your fault...

Hi,
did you promise a defencive trick with 3S / 4S?
No.
Would a pass by partner be forcing?
No.
Pass.
With kind regards
Marlowe
PS: Lead a spade, most likely it wont destroy anything,
a trump lead is a distant option, but you know, that
we have most likely not the bal. of power.

Any sense in using it over overcalls? Doesnt seem to since 3N should be natural, and it shuts out LHO from making a lead director.
