I suggest that the 8 pm (eastern) SPEEDBALL start right at 8 pm - late players can join the regular 8:06 pairs game (still called the 8 pm tourney) or the individual. This would allow players to finish by 9 pm, in order to watch CSI (Thursday) or other popular shows that start at 9 pm.

Do you think if they took out the 2's and 3's that the speedball would be faster? B)

The speedballs currently run 12 bds x 5 mins per bd, for exactly 60 minutes.
We currently allow a 5 min gap between tourneys

so the schedule is:

7:00 PM
8:05
9:10 (starting Sun night)
10:15

the creep wasnt so visible with 7/8 but it can't really be hidden once the 9s & 10s begin

We've been toying with speeding up the speedballs a little further, to bring them down to 56 minutes. Not clear we can or that the players will want it.
Another thought is to run them every 1.5 hours; another to run them on the hour ( but this prevents you from playing 2 successive Ts).

Get with the times dear Helene. B)

7:00 PM
8:05
9:10  (starting Sun night)

What about (times eastern):

6:45 pm
7:50 pm
8:55 pm
10:00 pm

Now the 2nd and 4th speedball start times are a fair bit different than the regular 8:06 and 10:15 games, and provides a better fill-in-the-gaps to the schedule. For players in the regular 6:30 game, they will usually be finished by 7:50 or should not be playing in the speedball. The 10 has a nice 11 pm finishing time.

Now it says speedballs at 7, 8, 9, and 10 - is the 56 minute format being tried?

No. It was just easier to say 7, 8, 9, and 10PM than to say 7, 8:05, 9:10, and 10:15.

sorry for the confusion
