Yes, I play this in one partnership:
over 2N (after a weak 2 by the opps):
All 3 level suits are transfers:
Over 2♠:
3♣: ♦'s: may be to play. or may be about to make forcing, descriptive bids. Thus 3♣ - 3♦ - 3♥: gf with 4♥ and longer ♦'s
3♦: transfer to 3♥: all followups are as normal over transfers
3♥: transfer through their suit: shows 5+♣ (usually 6+)
3♠: stayman
Make the common sense adjustments for lower weak 2 bids.
While I have played it in a fairly regular ppship (we probably play every 2-3 weeks and have for 5-6 years) it almost never comes up, but it works well.

smolen disappears, because you don't have 3♣ as stayman, but over 2M you're not looking for a fit in their major, so it is not an issue. Nor is smolen on over (2♦) 2N because, once again, 3♣ is not smolen.
You can show 4=5 or so in the majors over 2♦ 2N: 3♣ transfers to ♥ and now bid 3♠.
Showing 5=4 is more problematic: you really can't do it without guessing and usually you'll either transfer to ♠ and bid NT or use stayman and guess over 3N. I'd almost always pass... I only say 'almost' in case someone comes up with a freak hand
As for interference: I am unsure of your meaning. If 3rd seat bids over 2N, we can't play this method: we can play responsive doubles if they raise and penalty if they change suits, and natural, forcing new suits at the 3-level or 4 level below game etc.

This month's Bridge World has a little article that has several suggested varieties of responses to (2X)-2N-(P) -- I think the title is something like "Building a Better Moustrap".
