Scoring: MP

6

Lead is some medium spade, perhaps the seven. At the table I played this one awfully , but I have the convenient excuse of having this as first board of the night.

Thanks
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Pretty interesting....

I would cash 2 spades, 3 rounds of clubs ruff high, diamond to the ace, ten of diamonds. If diamonds are 3-1 I make the percentage play of leading the ten of hearts from dummy. If it's covered I cross back in trumps and lead a heart to the 8.

If diamonds are 2-2 what is the best way to play hearts now given that they have to play the suit back (or concede if they have no more hearts)?

Low to the 8 wins against these holdings on our left:

x(2)
9
H(2)
Hx(4)
Hxx(2)
KQx(2)
xx
9xx
KQ

low to the jack then low if they win and return one wins against

x(2)
9
H(2)
9x(2)
H9x(4)
Hxx(2)
xx
9xx
KQ
H9(2)

ace and low wins against

H(2)
Hx(4)
Hxx(2)
H9x(4)
KQ
9xx
H9(2)

so unless i missed something low to the jack is best by 2 cases, and ace and low and low to the 8 are equal if diamonds are 2-2.
