After myLimit bid with 1 NT, I bid 3 Club. I doubt that pd can misunderstand this, can´t he?
If he understands it as strong weith hearts? Fine, this is may hand.
If he understands it as asking for balance,d asking for a stopper, fine, that is my hand too.

And I won´t care much, whether he intends a 3 HEart bid as showing min., no stopper or a fifth Heart. I will bid game after any response.
Kind Regards

Roland

I think I would like to know the form or scoring rather than unknown, and I would like to know the vulnerabilty.

The club queen is probably of no value on this auction, so I have effectively 9 hcp with a four card fit. The doubleton spade could be useful.

Vulnerable at imps, I would bid 4-HEARTS, otherwise I would invite game. To invite game via a raise. This hand is actually pretty good in support of a freely bid 2H, so I would go via 3's at other forms of scoring/vulnerabilities.

Vun = None.

Scoring on the night was MP, but more interested in IMP scoring as that is what we play when we have league matches

I sure have a nice hand for partner, and wish the QC was in the S suit. I considered cue bidding C but think 4H is best. I might miss a slam, would be nice if I could bid 4D.

There are a lot of min hands pard might have that have a play for 4, say,

AKxxx
AKxx
xx
xx

or

AQxxx
AJTx
Qxx
x

Thus I bid 4.

Since when is AK twice a minimum? My bid is 3 anyway.

Isn't pard accepting a game try with these hands?

I'd rather not bid pard's hand here. I'll just raise to 3. why can't he hold: KJxxx, Axxx, xxx, A?

After pd's free 2H, I will bid a game regardless CQ is (likely) a wasted card. I am bidding 3C. If he doesn't understand, I bid 4H.

I'd just invite, my hand doesn't seem all that great.

Since I would have been ready to rebid 2NT invitational, I will just do so in H with 3H.

3 for me.

We see an interesting range of answers, from those committing to game, to those making a strong invite (3) and those making a minimal move (3).

In my view this hand simply isn't strong enough to do anything more than make a mild invitation. The Q may not be entirely worthless, but I suspect it is.

I have 4 bad trump and a flattish hand with only 2 hcp in partner's suits...and the opps probably cashing their winner(s) before my come into play.

I would take this view even red v white.

After all, partner knows the vulnerability as well as I do.

I am maybe a little safer in my approach than some since I belong to the heavy invite, light accept school. That approach is not as relevant in this kind of situation, where I have two invites possible.

If I were Qx Qxxx AKxx xxx I'd bid 3: I would NOT force to game even with this, since partner has not denied 3 losers by bidding 2... he knows his length better than I do.

Given that I would bid 3 with that hand, the given hand is significantly lighter and so can and should be distinguished.

What is your next bid, playing 2/1.

As usual this really depends on how light partner opens. Easy 3H for me and not close to 4H or game force.

I'm taking it that the 2 freebid shows at least a good min, not a junkish 11 like yours ;) If 2 could be just about anything.. well, maybe 3 is better, though I still might prefer to bid game first and think about it later. I just hate it missing 4 on compound pessimism... belive me, it happened to me over and over again..

Is 2 really a freebid? The 2 overcall didn't use up any space. I'd just assume partner make a normal rebid over interference here.
