Easy 3N for me. I hope to shut out the spades with my A-3rd.

I'm a little heavy, but pard should know that I could have a hand this good, or even a tad better.

3NT as well. If partner removes 3NT to any other strain, I am happy.

I was Justin's partner on this and had my own problem over his bid (I agreed and agree 100% with his action). Unfortunately, posting my problem doesn't work because the 'answer' is obvious knowing his hand....it may well have been obvious anyway, but wasn't to me at the time B)

Since I know what works, assuming partner is on the same wavelength, I won't comment.

I'm a 3N bidder as well - if partner removes this I can be assured he isn't bidding Jxxx of a suit.

Double is good for me, if partner bid 4H then id bid 5C, if partner bid 5D i want to give him the choice, i think the choice bid is 4s(what is 4NT ?) so that is my bid now.

over 4 diamonds, would 4NT be ok as you really only want to know about the K of diamonds to try a small slam no idea how to bid a grand from here as I should not be in this discussion forum

over 4 hearts I pass as he could not x over 2 spades with a singleton or void at best he cant have a great hand and they will poss bid 4 spades which you can x

wouldnt it be a shame if partner give you something like
X J10XX KJXX QXXX and you will go down in 4H while 7C is cold ?

I like dbl then 5C. My hand is too strong. WE can easily make a slam if pd has some mild fit for my club suit.

If pd jump to 5D after my dbl, then I will give him a raise.

Choices are X and 3NT. Certainly not 4C which overstates the C suit and really does not do justice to the hand. Anyway, some play that 4C shows a C+H 2 suiter in situations like this - non leaping Leaping Michaels.

3NT. Not ideal by any means as we may miss a C or D slam. The problem with X is "What do you do over 4H? Bid 5C I guess, but the suit isn't that good and you have by passed 3NT.
All in all, I think 3NT is the winning bid

I am another 3NT bidder because I don't really see an alternative, but I don't think I'm heavy for it, and if RHO doubles I shall be very unhappy.

That's sort of how I felt Frances, but I was really tempted to X for some reason. Probably because it's likely that partner has a stiff spade and likely he has some club support, I felt that 5C will often be a better contract. Of course, partner may have a weak 1 or 2 suiter in the reds, and he may have a doubleton spade, and if 5C makes 3N might make as well. Eventually, I decided that I couldn't really get to the right spot intelligently and bid 3N. I was unhappy when RHO Xed though, but partner had thought for a long time over 3N and I thought pass was certainly logical. Partner ran to 4H and had...

xx KJT9xx 987xx ---. I was very happy I didn't X and bid 5C (which would probably get us to 5D).

FWIW I agree with partners pass of 3N, it certainly looks like I have long running clubs and a spade stop given his hand.
