Scoring: IMP

Down in the 2nd round robin, you bid this pushy slam. The opening lead is the K. Plan the play.

(Note - if you take the pitch right away on the , RHO drops the J).

I think I have to cash 2 hearts, taking the pitch, then cash the spade king, followed by AK and a low club. This gives me a slight extra chance when RHO has 3 spades and 2 clubs as a RHO ruff with a natural trump trick will cause no harm. The hard part will be in deciding, after RHO pitches on the third club, how to get to dummy for the 4th round of clubs - I can't afford an overruff from the long spade hand and a spade return.

Better not to cash K?
1st trick A
2nd/3rd trick A K
4th/5th trick A K
6th trick RHO ruffs pitch , win ret, draw trumps ruff claim
RHO pitches, ruff,Draw 2 trumps ending in Hand,Hoping J 10 x
with RHO.
RHO follows LHO over ruffs Again draw trumps ending in Hand and
hope for J 10 x with RHO
Why else would you have 9? :)

Yeah, not taking out the K seems better. Just take the pitch and play 3 rounds of clubs, and take it on from there...

Besides spades 3-2, you need JT-third in hearts or clubs 3-3, I think.

A
AK
AKQ

If the T drops as well, continue hearts and claim.
If it doesn't, ruff a club and hope they are 3-3.
