Scoring: IMP

bidding proceed:
e----s-----w--------n
p- p- p- 1di
p- 1he -p- p
dbl- rdl- 2cl- p
p- 3he- p- 3nt
p- 4he- dbl- p-
p- p

result: minus 800

south think:he had a great hand in view of the bidding and 3nt was poor bid cause north hand is very flat and minimum( he suggest north to pass 3he), he argue that game in he is possible in front of minimum opener with genuine support and g enuine diamond suit. 3 he was a attempt to show the 5th heart

north think: 3he was poor bid,2he is enuff, he hope for a good 12 and try his luck at 3nt.

please comment all our bids, we want to improve

thx all to help us

South went nuts. In spite of pard being a 4th chair opener, he PASSED 1. Where is this hand going?

I don't like the redouble, but its not terrible. I slightly prefer a simple 2. 1 is possible too.

3 is pretty strange. North contributed to the fun with a strange cuebid of 3, because, obviously, when pard bids like this, he has discovered a missing Ace (or 2) and forgot to open the bidding.

South got carried away. His partner passed 1. If ever a bid says, I don't care if you have a goodish 11 or so points, we have no game ambition. As here, his partner may very well have only three hearts for this auction.

3H was a huge overbid. I agree with phil, bid 2H over the double... then enough.

Completely agree with what Phil said. South's 3H was rediculous after North PASSed 1H.

North should not pass 1.North should bid 1NT.Presumably E will pass.South has nothing better than 2 which N will pass.E may or may not balance. If he doesnt balance you will probably gain the board. If he doubles or bids 3 some aggressive players in S seat ( like S here ) may try 3 to show a slighly better hand than shown so far (Timid players like me wouldnt :) especially because of 4 card) and N/S will play in 3 undoubled .I suspect many other N/S will be in the same contract.
N/S lost 800 because of bad breaks and very unlucky placement of cards and huge wastage in otherwise 3 is not a bad contract and if the 6 hcp in are elsewhere then even 4 has chances.
A request. Next time you post a bidding quiz do not give the opponents' hands and do not mention the result.

Despite recent comments to the contrary, I cannot understand the pass of 1H. As stated above, Nth has a clear cut 1NT bid. This would probably buy the contract. As it went, 2H was enough, not 3H. Why did Nth think he could make 3H opposite a passed hand?

Hi,

North should bid 1NT instead of passing,
to take away their option to get in cheaply
with 1S.

3H is out of this world, and to a slight degree
so is 3NT, at least you will play 3H without a
double, but this will not be the case with 3NT,
at least if you assume, that your opponents are
reasonable competent.

With kind regards

I don't like the north hand and would just pass it out... But ok, IF you open, you don't pass 1 with a flat hand (ok with doubleton). And if we say ok again, then now south shouldn't rdbl, shouldn't get carried away, but just bid 2 for the preemptive effect and keep quiet for the rest. Especially since east doubled, you should never go high in , since west will hold some trump length.

There had been different ways to show these hands, but I can life with the first bids including the redouble. This shows max for the first pass. Even if there had been other bids, which I had prefered, like 2 Heart or 1 Spade.
But 3 Heart was nuts and so was 3 NT and 4 Heart.

The worst bid was clearly 3 Heart after pd passed 1 Heart.
Kind Regards

Roland
